weekend with the parents.
I absolutely adore my mom and dad.
I was never one of those kids that rebelled against their parents and told them I hated them. We got into arguments, definitely, but we’ve always been pretty close. It doesn’t hurt that my mom is hilarious and my dad has loosened up A LOT in the last few years.
This weekend they came to visit me at school, which they haven’t been able to do in years. It was so nice to have them here to meet all my friends, plus we all love when parents come because they take us out :).
On Friday the three of us went to dinner at the Chart House. After missing our turn three times because apparently my father cannot seem to figure out the Boston tunnels, we finally made it.
It was raining on Saturday so we went for a family run in the morning (cute, I know) and then ran some errands… Grocery shopping and things like that. For dinner, my parents took me, Bee, FriendBoy, and Roomie out to dinner at a great local seafood restaurant. I ordered lobster, which I had never had before.

It was good, but I do not like working for my food. Or looking at guts.
After dinner, we all met up with some more friends and went to a karaoke bar. It was all my mom had wanted to do for weeks leading up to her visit, so we made her dreams come true.

The place was a little strange, and it was definitely some good people watching, but we all had fun (and my parents picked up the bar tab which was awesome.)
My dad is SO not a karaoke guy, but he was a good sport and sat and cheered us all on. He even danced with my mom in the middle of the bar.
My mom, Bee, and I sang “S.O.S.” by Abba. We basically rocked it, and apparently I had my own little dance party on stage. Not embarrassing at all….?

Then Roomie and FriendBoy did a rousing rendition of “9 to 5″ by Dolly Parton… Let’s just say Roomie had a little too much to drink.

Sunday was a big brunch and then I took my parents into Boston to see the Boston Common and Faneuil Hall. It was gorgeous weather so we walked around a lot and then they were off to catch their flight.
It was a great weekend with people I love — what did everyone else do this weekend?
